I was born and raised in Southern Alberta – Fort Macleod area to be exact. I graduated from LCI and went on to get a B.A. from the University of Lethbridge (2014). Looking back, the years I spent at the U of L were some of the best of my life. I met some amazing people, learnt an immense amount (even some useful things), and managed to win a few overly competitive intramural hockey championships along the way (shout-out to the Cal Cluttermuck fellas). All in all, I wouldn’t trade those years for the world.
Since then, I’ve spent three years working in marketing/communications here in Lethbridge. Maybe I was bored, or maybe I just started to miss writing, but starting Canes Domain was a very organic process for me. Running a website, writing about hockey, and interacting with others is the culmination of so many of my favorite activities. It comes easy to put time, effort, and detailed work into something you enjoy and I hope in this case that it translates.
Ultimately I hold this entire endeavor loosely. As serious as I am about growing Canes Domain into a thriving online community, I’m an extremely light-hearted person, and won’t hesitate to laugh at myself from time to time. I very much hope that we’re able to blend genuinely informative hockey related articles together with some laughs. I also hope that those of you who read the blog and follow the team aren’t afraid to come say hi to us. At 6’7” I have been known to stand-out. Come say hi and maybe we can grab a winter ale in the lounge.
You can catch me around the concourses of the Enmax, in my McDavid Oilers onesie at home, or any time here on the site.
